The Bad News Bears

Well---first off...let me say yes..Ashley we seem to have a target on the side of all of our cars (or mostly the back end really). I'm not sure why this is. I told Garrin that he was just trying to "one up" me. HA. Wish he wouldn't have. Garrin was in front of the shop in a customer's car and a little 16 yr old was NOT paying attention. She didn't even see him stopped there until right before she hit him. Needless to say---he's got some serious whiplash and hobbles home each night.

Next....Devin is in SLC Thursday night and someone broke into his car. They smashed the driver's side window and stole his stereo/deck, broke his AC circuit board and stole his Ipod. They did about $1500 damage to the car plus the ipod that the insurance would not cover. We initially thought that his laptop had been stolen too. He had it on the backseat under his backpack which contained his digital camera. It was gone. The next day at about 11am he FOUND the laptop under the passenger seat of the car. WOW. We can't figure out how it got under there---but he's so grateful not to have lost it. The guy in the car next to him was also broken into....also through smashing the window. He also lost his deck and Ipod. But, unfortunately for him, he also had his wallet in there with $500 cash, credit cards, driver's license and social security card. Devin exchanged numbers with him and found out that someone found his wallet minus the cash and ONE credit card. Amazing! What a "lucky" guy.

Next thing that qualifies us for the bad news bears.....Devin woke us up at 7:30 this morning throwing up and in a lot of pain. Good thing for us that the instacare opened at 8:00 out in Saratoga Springs. I didn't have an extra $150 laying around for the ER. After a few tests, they determined that he was dehydrated and had kidney stones AGAIN. Ugh!!! Not fun stuff. Hope they pass soon!

And...last but not least....typed this whole post and the blog went down and I lost it....oh brother!
So...in short...I think we deserve the bad news bears of the week award. LOL! If you have important events in your life coming up (playoff games, etc)---I would suggest NOT inviting US! LOL!

Do you think we should stay home just in case??? I don't want to endanger the rest of you!!!! :)

So sorry you're being targeted. I just wonder, is it about time for Devin to put in mission papers? If so, your luck may be about to change. Mom always said they had the best luck and more money with a missionary out. The luck typically ran out just when we came home. So watch out Mom and Dad, Jake is almost home. Yikes. And worse - no more missionaries to brighten up the future.

Okay! I am so sorry that all the bears are hitting your area. Stef, I'm sorry about Dev's kidney stones. Why are they so prevalent these days? Something you might think about is the pop he might be drinking. We had a doctor tell our office that soda intake is very prevalent for kidney s tones. I w ish Coby would back off because he never was one much for it, but seems to be drinking more of it this last year. I'm glad you guys are coming for the reunion, too. I'm looking forward to this as I have had some pretty neat experiences helping me get things going for this. Kim is such a sport and is going to go along with some of these wild and crazy i deas that i s hitting me. Love ya lots and if we can help, let u s know. Also, I am looking for a good scooter to do my visits on. Anybody that might know of a good deal, let me know. I could be using the money I'm spending on gas on a scooter and be more money a head!

Well...I'm not sure why kidney stones are more prevalent these days. We did know about the soda thing. Another thing I think is supplements if you're lifting, etc. That's what we believe happened last year.

I just told Garrin yesterday that he needed to buy some scooters! They've been thinking about it! My dad wanted one too. I was thinking Shawnee could drive one in Oct when she turns 16 and get herself to school at 6am!!! We were discussing how big they could be and not require a motorcycle license. Maybe someone knows that!

oh..and I wasnt' done yet....I wanted to say that we'll live through all the trials...we're Ellis', right?

And..if it werent' for bad luck, we'd have no luck at all! LOL!

Tammy--I'm sure you have lots of fun planned! I'm always just content to sit and talk too!! It's fun just being together. Any of Margo or Kevin's family coming? What about Lanett? Do we know about any of them?

We are also very excited about the reunion.
We will only be there for one day but plan to enjoy all the time we have to visit with everyone.
About the scooters. We bought 2 scooters last year. They are Yamaha Vino 125cc. Super fun to drive and great on gas mileage. We average around 85 miles to the gallon. Wes comes home and tells me he had to buy gas and it only cost $4.50 or close to it. We looked at the 50cc but they did not get up to speed for us to drive down 17th St. Our top speed is around 55mph. Wes says 50cc and under does not require a motorcycle endorsement. Although you also have to consider if it does not require the endorsement it also is probably not legal to be on the roads. We sold Wes' scooter last month because Piper is to young to be on one so we can not both drive one at the same time. We plan to buy another one when we can take Piper out with us.
Good Luck with the hunt!

Scooters would be a ton of fun and help save alot on gas too. We've tossed the idea around too but at the same time don't want to accumulate too much stuff to have to move around every year.

If any of you are really interested in purchasing a scooter we sold ours on KSL.com, there were alot for sale and I think some are still avaliable.

i just got a scooter. 125cc buddy... dumb name but cute little scooter... after living in taiwan i can just see them getting the definition for a buddy and thinking it would be a great name for a scooter... i just looked it up- a close friend or a working companion with whom close cooperation is required... only down side to my scooter purchase is the fact that riding my bike never happens now... which means there is a little extra softness on my body where i would rather it not be... also scooter are not super awesome in the cold...

Grandma Tammy bought her a scooter yesterday! It's a bright Crimson Red so everyone can see me coming. I told Ashley to think of a name she could make for me to put on it. Yes, Stef, you do have to have a motorcycle endorsement to ride them. Although I haven't taken my test yet for it, Kim said just don't do anything wrong and the officers won't pull you over. I got a 150cc Fly something. Kim gave me some tips on riding on the highway with it. I'll bring it up to the reunion and Kim can give everyone a crash course on riding tips! Ha! They are putting a windshield, etc on it for today so will pick it up today. I'll post some pics then. Maybe I should give a prize for the one that comes up with a name for me and my scooter! Better go today will be the last run in my Camray for a while! Ha! Love ya!

How about Lady in RED, or CNA in RED, or CNA on wheels.

Kim is right or course, if you are not doing anything crazy or illegal they typically leave you alone. Just everyone please be very careful and wear your helmet. Wes is home from work today because he laid his down on his way home from work yesterday. Scrapes and bruises all over and a very swollen/bruised rib. He was trying to get out of the way of a teen age tailgater and went into some gravel then came upon a sunken manhole so he had to slow down faster than expected. Because of this he lost control of the scooter. Other than being sore and scraped up we think he is okay and the scooter needs some minor repairs done.

hmmm...maybe I do NOT want to buy one of these. I'd love to keep hearing how their going. We can't afford to buy another car for Shawnee to drive and I'm gone to work 3 days a week...so she needs something to get to her activities in. I was wondering about a scooter---but not if some idiot is going to hit her on it! Helmets/seatbelts are a MUST at my house anyway....hope everyone else is the same!!

Hope Wes is ok...how scary!

Garrin bought 5 of them yesterday to sell at work---it'll be interesting to see how they sell
